Welcome!
Hello!!!
Interested in why I became a Functional Nutritional Therapist? Read on!
If you have found yourself on this page, congratulations! You are curious about your wellbeing and the possibility of creating change with a holistic approach.
My name is Megan Snowden and I have long had a passion for people and wellness. One of my first jobs was caring for seniors in an assisted-living home which sparked my interest in learning more about how human bodies work. Seeing so many frail, sick people when I was relatively young was a blessing in disguise. While I praise modern medicine for its incredible advancements, when it comes to necessary surgeries, life-saving interventions, and medications that can blunt a deadly infection, I also recognized many flaws. It was during those first years at the assisted-living home that I decided to find a way to make a difference. I truly believed that there could be a better way to age and live a healthy long life. Having my first child solidified the idea of health and wellness. There is not a wish greater from a mother to a child than to provide them with the longest, healthiest life possible.
Fast forward almost 20 years and I found the Nutritional Therapy Association by chance and fell in love with its program immediately. I was on a journey to attend a dietetics program but had a deep-rooted feeling that it wasn’t the right path for me. While fulfilling my prerequisites, I realized that the health and nutrition world had not changed much since my time at the assisted-living home and we had become a nation of treatment versus prevention. The Nutritional Therapy Association was different. They approached wellness in a radically new way. They treated each person as a bio-individual, using both ancestral and modern wisdom to help people reconnect to their body and work with their individualistic needs through whole food and targeted nutrition. This method is extremely successful and also gives people the power to reclaim their bodies in the long run.
In facing my own health challenges, I found that a food first approach always fared better with fewer side effects than any other method. My own troubles led me to seek out any information I could about women’s health ranging from scientific studies to holistic medicine. I have a passion for helping women because I understand firsthand the many challenges we can face when our bodies are out of alignment.
When I am not joyfully waist-deep in nutrition or wellness literature, you will find me outside, working in our gardens, camping in the mountains with my two children and husband, or digging my toes in the sand at the beach. I also love re-creating unhealthy recipes into healthier versions I can feel confident allowing my kids to devour.
My hope is that you and I together will work towards you learning to trust your body. It is so intelligent. Having the right tools in your toolbox is the key to you living a long and plentiful life. We will build up your foundation of knowledge until you are strong enough to do it on your own.
Let’s get started!
